Where are services?

We meet the second Friday of every month month for kabbalat shabbat services at the historic and centrally located Gates of Heaven synagogue in James Madison Park, at the corner of Gorham and Butler Streets, just a few blocks from the Capitol.

By bus

The 2, 5, 9, 10, 27, 28 and 81 buses all go right past the synagogue. Get off at E Johnson St and Butler St (eastbound) or Gorham and Butler St (westbound). Zoom in on the map above to see individual bus stops.

Walking, biking or driving

From the isthmus and east side

Head west on Gorham St.  Gates of Heaven is at the far end of the park, just before you go up the hill.

From downtown, campus, west and south sides

Head east on E Johnson St, past the capitol.

Turn left onto Butler St, at the six way intersection at the bottom of the hill. 

Parking

Go one block NW on Butler until you reach Gorham, and you'll see the synagogue in front of you.

In addition to street parking, the synagogue has its own parking lot. The driveway is on Gorham St just before you reach the synagogue, between Butler and Hamilton (zoom in on the map abpve to see).
